COLORBOND® steel conforms to relevant Australian Standards AS1397 and AS/NZS 2728 and is backed by BlueScope warranties for peace of mind.
COLORBOND® steel is a versatile and durable material, but ensuring its compatibility with other materials is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Due to the risk of galvanic corrosion, COLORBOND® steel should not be used in direct contact with non-galvanised steel, copper, brass, lead, stainless steel, or Monel metal.
Lead flashing should not be used with COLORBOND® steel products.
It is also recommended to avoid using galvanised gutters with roofing made from COLORBOND® steel to prevent potential corrosion issues.
Handle the sheets carefully to prevent scratches or abrasions to the protective coating.
Avoid dragging sheets over rough surfaces or across each other to minimize surface damage.
Store COLORBOND® steel in a dry, well-ventilated area to prevent moisture accumulation.
Keep the sheets elevated off the ground using wooden or plastic pallets to avoid contact with moisture and debris.
Follow manufacturer guidelines and recommendations for handling and storage to maintain the integrity and longevity of COLORBOND® steel products.
Regular washing with water maintains the attractiveness and extends the lifespan of COLORBOND® steel, protecting your investment. While surfaces washed by rainwater, like roof cladding, usually don’t need extra care, areas such as wall cladding under eaves, garage doors, and eave gutters need regular cleaning. Hose down areas not washed by rainwater every six months, or more frequently in coastal or industrial areas.
For stubborn dirt, use a mild solution of pure soap or non-abrasive detergent, then rinse thoroughly.
Avoid abrasive cleaners to ensure your COLORBOND® steel lasts for years with minimal maintenance.
